Asian Games Hockey: Big Wins Highlight an Exciting Day in Gifu

Gifu, Japan – 24 September 2026: The men’s hockey competition at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026produced another entertaining day of action, with six matches played across Pools A and B.

Malaysia and Pakistan continued their excellent form in Pool B, while India and Japan delivered commanding victories in Pool A.

Malaysia Stay Perfect in Pool B

Malaysia maintained their unbeaten start with an emphatic 10-0 victory over Thailand, strengthening their position at the top of the pool.

Uzbekistan also earned an important result, edging Oman 3-2 in a closely contested encounter.

In the final match of the day, Pakistan produced a composed performance to defeat China 3-0, recording their third consecutive victory of the competition.

Following the day’s matches, Malaysia and Pakistan both remained on nine points from three matches, with Malaysia leading the pool on goal difference. China occupied third position with six points.

India and Japan Impress in Pool A

Bangladesh opened the Pool A programme with a convincing 5-1 win over Sri Lanka.

India then continued their strong campaign with an 8-2 victory against Korea, displaying their attacking quality throughout the match.

Hosts Japan completed the Pool A action in style, producing a dominant performance to defeat Indonesia 12-1.
