61st Men’s and 26th Women’s National Hockey Championships Conclude Successfully in Colombo

Colombo, July 30, 2025 — The 61st Men’s and 26th Women’s National Hockey Championships, organized by the Sri Lanka Hockey Federation (SLHF), were successfully held at the Colombo Hockey Stadium from July 23 to 27, 2025. The tournament brought together top-tier talent from across the country and was a showcase of the growing strength and popularity of hockey in Sri Lanka.

The championship was fully sponsored by LANKA IOC PLC – SERVO, reaffirming the company’s commitment to the development of national sports. PEO Sports on PEOTV partnered as the Official Broadcast Partner, ensuring nationwide coverage and engagement.

Grand Opening Ceremony
The tournament was ceremonially inaugurated by the Hon. Sunil Kumara Gamage, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, and Mr. Dipak Das, Managing Director of LANKA IOC PLC.

Men’s category: 23 teams

Championship Highlights
Men’s Final:
Defence Services Hockey Association triumphed over State Services HA with a score of 5-3.

Best Player: Kusal Thilakasiri (Defence Services) – awarded Rs. 100,000

Best Goalkeeper: Amantha Silva (State Services) – awarded Rs. 50,000

Women’s Final:
Defence Services Hockey Association defeated Colombo Hockey Association with a 2-0 victory.

Best Player: Imesha Weerabahu (Defence Services) – awarded Rs. 100,000

Best Goalkeeper: Geetika Samanthi (Colombo HA) – awarded Rs. 50,000

Second Runner-Up Teams:

Men’s: Mercantile Hockey Association

Women’s: Wennappuwa Hockey Association
