After an incredible 2019, which was marked by successful events throughout the year AHF remains committed to growing the sport of Hockey in Asia, increasing awareness amongst the masses. The year 2020 promises to be even better than last year with a great number of events lined up throughout the year.

Firstly, to kick things off in 2020, the Women’s Junior Asia cup will be held in Kakmighahara, Japan from 6-12 April 2020. The previous edition of the cup was a huge success and we look forward to another exciting event in Japan.

Also in April, the tradition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup will continue with another edition starting from 11-18 April 2020. The host venue will be IPOH, Malaysia. We have seen great competition and talent on display over the years and anticipate another thrilling tournament this year.

The Men’s Central Asia Cup will be taking place in 2020. The tournament will take place in Andijan, Uzbekistan. We are expecting a competitive tournament and a must-watch event in Uzbekistan.

June will see the Men’s edition of the Junior Asia Cup kick off from 4th to 12th. The host nation will be Bangladesh and the city is Dhaka. Experienced teams will be taking part in this cup with the likes of China, Chinese Taipei, and India all ready to showcase their skills.

The Women’s Asian Champions trophy is a major AHF event, which takes place every two years. The last edition saw Korea crowned as champions and India as runner-ups after a great tournament. The 2020 Women’s Asian Champions Trophy will start from the 14th – 21st of June in Donghae, Korea. We are hoping to see the same drive and fight from all teams, as we witnessed the last time.

The Summer Olympics is considered to be the biggest event in all of hockey. The best teams fight it out to claim the ultimate gold medal in the sport. Argentina men’s team won the 2016 Olympics with Great Britain winning the Women’s edition. We look forward to seeing the Asian teams performance with India, Japan, and China representing Women’s Asia Hockey. Japan and India will represent Asia on the Men’s side. The Summer Olympics Tokyo 2020 will be the highlight of the year, as all of sports fans will be waiting.

From September 5th to 12th, we will witness the Sultan of Johor Cup. Great Britain ranked at the #1 spot in the 2019 edition of the Cup. The 2019 edition took place in Taman Daya Hockey Stadium, Malaysia.

Coming towards the end of a busy year for Asian hockey, the events only keep ongoing. The Men’s AHF Cup will be played in Oman anytime between September and October 2020, dates not confirmed. The Women’s edition will be played out in Uzbekistan anytime from August to September. This cup is another opportunity for all teams to display their hard work and fight for the gold.

The Men’s edition of the Asian Champions Trophy is another major highlight of 2020. Asia’s best teams will battle it out to become champions of Asia. This year it will be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 17th – 27th November. Last time out India and Pakistan were declared as joint winners due to rain on the final matchday. It is expected to be a competitive champions trophy with, teams including Malaysia, Korea, Japan and more ready to show their progress throughout the year.

The year 2020 will close out with more events taking place including the Women’s Central Asia Cup and Men’s Iran Indoor Cup. It’s all set to be another tremendous year full of substantial growth and incredible events and we are all excited to see how the year pan’s out.
