Message from FIH President
Dear Members of the Hockey global community,
I hope this letter finds you well.
As you know, FIH introduced last year, on the occasion of its Centenary activities, the “International Hockey Day”.
I’m herewith delighted to inform you that this year’s edition will take place on 12 and 13 April, and Icall upon all of you to conclude the FIH Centenary celebrations with these Day’s activities. What can you and your members do? Here are three options:
– Print T-shirts with the FIH logo that will be worn by players – especially young ones – at a match, a training session or any other activity of your choice
– Print the FIH logo on paper and take a picture with a group of players showing the logo
– Write the “100” figure on a hockey pitch with sticks, balls or players and take an aerial
picture of it.
To give a wider reach to your celebration, share your activities on social media and tag FIH. You can also collaborate with FIH in your posts. We send you the FIH centenary logo, which you can use for purpose of these celebrations.
Together, let’s make throb with life and celebrate in style a Centenary year that, in many regards, has been unique for FIH and hockey.
I encourage all Continental Federations and National Associations to urge their members – their athletes, in particular – to participate in International Hockey Day activity.
I urge the world’s best players to lead the celebrations. In fact, I would love to see everyone in the sports ecosystem, members of the media, fans, sponsors and all other benefactors of hockey to take part in the celebrations of International Hockey Day this year.
We must celebrate our Olympic sport with renewed vigour and determination. Let’s get started now
by celebrating as one big family of hockey lovers.
Thank you and best wishes
Tayyab Ikram
FIH President
