Bengaluru, 02nd March 2023: Day five of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men Inter-Department National Champion 2023 showed some excellent games as Services Sports Control Board, Punjab National Bank, Food Corporation of India and Canara Bank secured wins in their respective matches on Thursday in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
In the first match of the day, Services Sports Control Board defeated Central Industrial Security Force 7-0, in Pool C. Harman Singh (15′, 25′, 28′) scored a beautiful hat-trick for Services Sports Control Board whereas Sanjay Toppo (13′), Captain Lovedeep Singh (27′), Pawan Rajbhar (36′) and Sushil Dhanwar (44′) scored a goal each to secure a comfortable win over Central Industrial Security Force toregister three more points in the points table.
Second match of the day was played between Punjab National Bank and I.T.B.P. Central Hockey Team in Pool-D. Mandeep Mor (6′,18′) started off well for the Punjab National Bank with a couple of goals in the first quarter. Ningombam Jenjen Singh (15′), Vishal Antil (23′), Sumit Toppo (27′) and Naveen Antil (51′) also scored one goal each at regular intervals and took the game away for their opponents. In reply, Jaswinder Singh (47′, 57′) scored two goals for I.T.B.P. Central Hockey Team but in vain as Punjab National Bank managed to secure three points on the points table. The scoreline at the end of the match was 7-2 in favour of Punjab National Bank.
The third match of the day between Food Corporation of India and Air India Sports Promotion Board was a closely contested encounter where Food Corporation of India secured a hard-fought 2-0 win over Air India Sports Promotion Board. Both the teams displayed excellent skills in the defensive department till the last quarter of the game and the scoreline was 0-0. Hans Raj (50′) and Rinku Antil (56′) scored one goal each in the last ten minutes of the game for Food Corporation of India and took the game away from the Air India Sports Promotion Board.
In the final match of the day, Canara Bank defeated All India Police Sports Control Board in yet another hard-fought encounter, 3-2. Majji Ganesh (27’,59) led the attack for Canara Bank with a crucial brace scoring the second and fourth quarter, while Sathvik HR (43’) also contributed with a goal for Canara Bank. For All India Police Sports Control Board, Captain Birendra Lakra (48’) and Hardeep Singh Sehmbi (54) scored a goal each before Majji Ganesh secured the victory for Canara Bank.
Matches between Comptroller & Auditor General of India versus BSES (Delhi) and Punjab & Sind Bank versus Sashastra Seema Bal were officially forfeited in favour of Comptroller & Auditor General of India and Sashastra Seema Bal respectively.
