Day Three Results: 11th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2021, Simdega, Jharkhand

~ Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu, Hockey Haryana, Hockey Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh Hockey, Hockey Punjab and Le Puducherry Hockey registered strong wins in their respective pools ~

 

Day three at the 11th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2021 witnessed some hard-fought matches here on Friday.

In the opening match of the day, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu made amends to their team’s loss in the first match by defeating Kerala Hockey 5-0 in their second Pool A match. Nandhini R opened the score board for Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu with a goal in the 19th minute after which Leemaroshni S scored twice in the 21st and 26th minute. S Soniya too scored a double in the 35th and 48th minute to ensure their team took home three points from the game.

Hockey Haryana, on the other hand, dominated the proceedings in their match against Hockey Rajasthan with an incredible 19-0 win. Pinki who scored the first goal of the match in the 17th minute, struck two more times in the 36th and 54th minute. Bharti (24′), Manju (28′, 35′, 47′), Preeti (30′), Manveet (37′), Monu (40′, 52′), Neelam (45′, 47′, 48′, 59′) Seema (53′, 56′, 58′) and Antim (56′) scored in Hockey Haryana’s fine win.

In another Pool C match, Hockey Andhra Pradesh best Telangana Hockey 7-0. Thirumalasetty Sree scored twice in the 21st and 43th minute while Gedela (33′, 35′) and Swarnapoodi (23′, 42′) too scored a double and Lotla (57′) scored a goal in Hockey Andhra Pradesh’s victory.

Uttar Pradesh Hockey got off to a fine start to their campaign with a scintillating 7-0 win against Manipur Hockey. Varsha (2′, 23′, 28′) struck thrice while Vinamrata (22′), Swarnika (49′), Shashikala (51′) and Ruchika (59′) scored a goal each.

In a closely fought battle in Pool H, Hockey Karnataka lost 1-2 to Hockey Punjab. Both teams fought evenly in the match with Harpreet Kaur scoring the first goal for Hockey Punjab but Hockey Karnataka did well to equalise in the 37th minute through Jahnavi HS. While both teams did well to defend their score and hunt for a winner, it was Harpreet Kaur who succeeded in putting the ball past the Karnataka goalkeeper in the 49th minute that ensure her team registered the three winning points.

In the last match of the day, Le Puducherry Hockey registered a fine 6-1 win against Hockey Bengal in Pool H. For the winning team, goals were scored by M Tamizharasi (10′), Subasri (15′, 22′, 40′) and Deepika (16′, 32′). Meanwhile for Hockey Bengal, Sumitra Das scored the lone goal in the 31st minute.
