120 Participants from over 30 countries certify their names in the hockey world

120 participants from over 30 countries participated in 5 coaching and umpiring courses between 28th February and 8th March, 2018 in Ipoh Malaysia. Level 2 and Level 3 Coaching Courses, Level 2 Umpiring Course, Educators Course and Umpiring manager courses were covered in this years editions of the annual program which is held along side the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. Over 10, highly decorated and accomplished trainers conducted the course including, FIHA senior trainer and Japan’s Head Coach, Seigfried Aikman, FIHA senior educator Mike Joyce, and many more.

Level 3 Coaching course inaugurated the program which included an intensive content and practical based curriculum, which tested over 27 future leading coaches of the hockey world. This was followed by a Level 2 Coaching Course in which 25 participants gained advanced knowledge of the state of the art coaching practices. Simultaneously, a two day Educators course was also conducted which was targeted towards hockey professionals. Between 6-8 March an Umpiring Managers Seminar was conducted which saw participation from over 15 experienced umpire managers who polished their skills on the ongoing Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. Last but not the least, Advanced Umpiring Level 2 course was also one of five courses at the event. Participants from far across the globe partook in the event and invited members from countries such as Botswana, who truly left their mark in the Hockey family.

The certificates were presented by Yang Teramat Mulia Raja Kecil Sulong Perak Raja Dato’ Seri Ahmad Nazim Azlan Shah bin Raja Dato’ Seri Ashman Shah. The other dignitaries present on stage were Raja Dato’ Seri Eleena binti Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-lah, AHF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dato Tayyab Ikram and Dato’ Hj Abdul Rahim Mohd Ariff, the chairman of the 27th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup organising committee. Dato’ Tayyab in his key note address at the presentation of certificates ceremony, said, “We also take a good opportunity to run the educational programmes under the Raja Ashman Hockey Academy that was also a legacy by our late Sultan Azlan Shah and I have very to report that this year we had five global programs”.  “We had 120 participants from 30 nations represented here from all five continents. It was a good significant programme held during the Sultan Azlan Shah Tournament,” added Dato’ Tayyab. (Source: Sultan Azlan Shah Cup official website).

The final event of the global program will be the first ever international goalkeeper’s trainers course, “AHF International Goalkeepers High Performance Training and Coaching Course”, and will be held in Muscat, Oman, 14-16th March 2018.
