The Qatar Hockey Federation in association with the Qatar Olympic Committee organized the 1st Beach Hockey Championship. This was a part of the Winter QOC camp and took place in the Sealine Beach in Qatar.
A total of 12 teams participated in the tournament, with the teams formed into 4 pools (A, B, C, & D). The top two teams qualified for the quarterfinals. The Mesaieed City Hockey Club won the final in a heated match against Wanderers Hockey Qatar, giving a great performance that led to a 2-1 victory. The Lion’s team secured the Bronze medal vs Doha Hockey Club.
A staggering total of over 160 persons, including officials and athletes, participated in the tournament to make this all possible.
This is a great initiative taken by the Qatar Hockey Federation and is greatly appreciated. It gives a welcome twist to the sport and is sure to be enjoyed by players and audiences both. Good job QHF!
