The 72nd annual Olympic day was celebrated all across the globe on the 23rd of June, 2020. The Olympic day aims to promote sports activities all over the world in order to bring communities together. This year, due to the on going COVID-19 pandemic, countries have been forced to take necessary precautions, which means that celebrations around the world were held digitally.
Asian countries were heavily involved in Olympic day celebrations with activities taking place in India, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan. India celebrated the day with digital activities planned for young children, players, coaches and administrative staff. The various activities promoted Olympic values and the spirit of sportsmanship and unity.
Furthermore, Kazakhstan also organized festivities for all age groups to celebrate Olympic day. Chinese Taipei was also amongst the Asian countries that arranged different activities to unite all their people together, notably children’s march took place on the day.
Despite the challenges the world is facing in the form of the pandemic, the Olympic day was a great opportunity for everyone to unite together in the spirit of sport.
