The team’s first Olympic Game was played in Amsterdam 1928, where they finished 1st and got their first Gold Medal. The national team proved to be one of the best teams in world hockey history, winning the Gold medal seven more times: in Los Angeles 1932, Berlin 1936, London 1948, Helsinki 1952, Melbourne 1956, Tokyo 1964, and Moscow 1980.
The team currently holds the 5th place in the world ranking, with a renewed team of younger players with a winning streak so far.
India’s matches for the Olympic Qualifiers will take place in its home country, in the Kalinga Stadium, in Bhubaneswar, against Russia.
