Organized by the Higher Education Commission to find new talent in the national sport of hockey in order to improve the field of sports in Pakistan and bring new talent to the fore.
According to the details, on the fourth day of the Prime Minister Youth Hockey Talent Hunt Tournament, two matches were played at the National Hockey Stadium Pitch 02 on July 21. The first match was played at 1300 hours between Lahore and Sialkot. The special guest of this match was the legend of the hockey world, Shahbaz Ahmed Sr., former captain of the Pakistan Hockey Team, Presidential Medal for Good Performance. Tournament Organizing Secretary and UET University Director Sports Mohammad Tanveer presented the commemorative shield to the Chief Guest. Olympian Nasir Ali, Olympian Shakeel Abbasi Tahir Sharif, Gujar Tariq Butt and Hafiz Zahid Arshad were also present on this occasion.
In the second match played today, Bahawalpur defeated the Rawalpindi team by 04 goals to one. Ali Raza Aun Abbas Taha and Ahmed Noor scored one goal each from Bahawalpur, while Usman scored the only goal of the match from Rawalpindi in the 52nd minute. The chief guest of this match was Mujahid Afzal International. Mujahid Afzal is the son of the late Olympian Ustad Afzal Muna and is also the head coach of Ustad Rana Zaheer Hockey Academy Lahore.
Today’s matches were supervised by Mubasher Ali, Yasir Khurshid International Zahid Hameed, Muhammad Saleem Wajahat and Mazhar Wasim. Among the technical officials, the names of Muhammad Yaqub, Sheikh Ali Abid, Saqib Niaz, Shiraz Khurshid, and Ikram ul Haq are included.
Five teams from Punjab are participating in this round of the Prime Minister Pakistan Youth Program Talent Hunt Hockey Tournament, including the names of teams from Lahore, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Sialkot and Rawalpindi. All the matches of the tournament are being played on a single league basis.
