Malaysia defeats Uzbekistan to pick up the bronze medal in the Men’s competition of Indoor Asia Cup 2019

Malaysia picked up the bronze medal in the men’s competition of the AHF Asian Indoor Hockey Tournament by defeating Uzbekistan 6-3  in the third placing match.

It was a decent ending for the Malaysians after their heart wrenching 4-3 semis defeat at the hands of Kazakhstan, where they had a two goal lead but still ended up on the losing side.

It was an explosive first half as in two occasions Malaysia took the lead only for Uzbekistan to equalise.

Malaysia opened scoring through  Omar Firdaus from a penalty. Other in the 3rd minute only to see the lead wiped out as Uzbekistan equalised through Enver Ismalov three minutes later,

Hanio Che Halim put Malaysia 2-1 up in the 7th minute but Ruslan Satikov drew Uzbekistan level in the 9th minute .

Aminudin Zain gave Malaysia a 3-2 lead in the 23rd minute as he scored from a penalty corner before Hanip scored his second and Malaysia’s fourth in the 25th minute.

And the two goal lead gave Malaysia some measure of confidence as they went on to add a couple of more goals.

Goals by Omar ( 31st minute) and Hanip ( 32nd minute ) gave Malaysia a comfortable 6-2 lead.

Uzbekistan scores their third through a penalty corner converted by Ruslan two minutes from time.
