Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah, the hereditary ruler of the central Malaysian state of Pahang, and the esteemed President of the AHF (among many other titles) has been chosen as the country’s new King (16th Yang di-Pertuan). This marks a moment of intense jubilation not only for the people of Malaysia, but also for the entire team here at the Asian Hockey Federation. We cannot express with words how proud we are of our President.
The 59 year old Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah has been elected to serve a five year term by eight other Malay sultans in the country’s Conference of Rulers. The new King will be appointed on the 31st of January in a traditional ceremony.
It is an honor and privilege to wish you and your royal family, on behalf of the Chief Executive, The Executive Board and the Asian Hockey Family, our heartiest congratulations on your ascension to the throne as the King of Malaysia!
