Malaysian Hockey Confederation sets the date for TNB Malaysia Hockey League (MHL)

The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (KHM) through the Competition Committee has set the date for the TNB Malaysia Hockey League (TNB MHL) 2021, Premier and Women’s tournament to be held from March 11 to April 3, 2021, after obtaining approval from the Government of Malaysia through the National Security Council (MKN) and Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) to organize the Tournament.

The TNB MHL 2021 tournament will be held centrally according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by MKN and KBS besides taking into account each guideline given for the tournament to be held in a sports bubble.

Bukit Jalil National Hockey Stadium remains the venue of the tournament with the competition for the Premier category will start on March 11 while the Women’s category will start the competition on March 15 besides the final event for both categories will run simultaneously on April 3, 2021.

The announcement of the new date of the tournament was announced by the KHM Competition Committee through their Chairman, Dato ‘Sri Dr. Anil Jeet Singh, at a press conference held at the KHM Office, today.

“First of all, I would like to thank the Government of Malaysia, MKN, KBS and the National Sports Council (MSN) for the approval given to start training for the team that will compete in TNB MHL 2021, including permission to organize this tournament.

“The tournament will be conducted in a sports bubble and each player, officer and individual directly involved will be placed in a place where they will start checking in a few days before the tournament starts.

“Players and officers are also required to perform a Covid-19 smear test (RT-PCR) three days before checking in to the special placement provided and send the test results to KHM to ensure that everyone involved is free from Covid-19.

“After checking in, no one is allowed to leave the settlement center during the tournament except for emergency cases such as death and some things that need consideration to get relief.

“During the tournament period, KHM will perform a Covid-19 smear test (RTK-Antigen) for us to monitor the health of the players and it is also to ensure that everything is under control,” he explained.

Previously, TNB MHL 2021 which was scheduled to start on January 14 until February 20 for the Premier and Women’s category had to be postponed after the Malaysian Government enforced the Movement Control Order (PKP) on January 13.

KHM in the meantime will continue to move in line with the recommendations given by the Malaysian Government including, the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) MKN, as well as KBS, in ensuring the safety of all parties as well as efforts to decide the spread of the Pandemic Covid-19 pandemic which is now quite worrying.
