National Spring Men’s and Women’s Hockey Championship, Donghae, Korea
The Korea Hockey Association successfully concluded the Korea National Spring Men’s and Women’s Hockey Championship on 1st April.
A sum of 33 Men and Women teams participated in this National level championship. The event lasted as good as 7 days starting on March 26th and ending on April 1st. It was organized in Donghae, Gangwon Province, Republic of Korea.
Amidst the ongoing pandemic situation, as a precaution to check the spread of COVID-19, the tournament was played behind closed doors and the access to the stadium was strictly restricted for spectators. Athletes, leaders and officials were the only ones with a physical presence inside the stadium premises. The championship was safely completed in compliance with hygienic regulations such as checking heat, using hand sanitisers, making it mandatory to wear masks, and maintaining a safe distance from the stadium for the general public.
The whole event was made available to spectate virtually through YouTube Live Stream.
All the 33 Men and Women teams had been graded into four categories namely Middle School, High School, College and Unemployed.
The Korean national championship set an excellent example of Youth Engagement and active Women participation.
The championship was concluded with a closing ceremony. President of the Korea Hockey Association Mr Lee Sang-Heun distributed prizes among the winning teams.
