Oi Hockey Stadium Tokyo

Back

Oi Hockey Stadium was officially inaugurated on 17 August 2019.

The stadium, which is in the waterfront area of Tokyo Bay, consists of two pitches that are expected to hold up to 10,000 and 5,000 fans during Games-time.

The turf at the stadium is the first of its kind in the sport and is made from re-growable raw materials. It was designed to support Tokyo’s carbon-neutral targets as well as the International Hockey Federation’s commitments to sustainable hockey and is made from 60 per cent sugar cane, meaning it requires 2 thirds less water than previous Olympic turfs.

Japan Hockey Association made a remarkable contribution towards the success of this project for the regional development of hockey.
