The 3km walk saw broad participation from various segments of the community in a distinctive athletic and social atmosphere. Traditional folk games, a demonstration of peg-catching and recreational activities designed for children were also on the programme. This event is part of the ongoing efforts by the OOC to promote a culture of community sports and encourage various age groups to engage in physical activity, as part of a vision aimed at making sport a way of life. Full info here. In addition, the OOC participated in the 100th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) NOCs meeting, held in Kuwait on 23 February. The meeting reviewed several important agenda items related to sport and athletes in the GCC countries, focusing on their development.
The latest updates on the 3rd GCC Beach Games, which Oman will host from 5 to 11 April 2025, and the schedule for the GCC Joint Sports Games from 2023 to 2027, were also on the agenda. Full details here.
