PHF 4 Teams Hockey Series



WAPDA and Pakistan Juniors continue their victories in the final round matches of PHF 4 Teams Hockey Series under the auspices of the Pakistan Hockey Federation. The closing matches of the event will be played tomorrow.

The PHF 4 Teams Hockey Series under the auspices of the Pakistan Hockey Federation has entered its final stages. Four teams, including the Pakistan Junior Hockey Team, are participating in the double league-based hockey series at the National Hockey Stadium, Astroturf Ground No. 2, Lahore. These include Pakistan Juniors, Pakistan WAPDA, Sui Southern Gas and Pakistan Navy. The first match was played between Sui Southern Gas and Pakistan WAPDA which was won by Pakistan WAPDA by 1-2 goals. Rizwan and Yasir Ali scored for Pakistan WAPDA while Rizwan scored the lone goal for Sui Southern Gas. The match was supervised by umpires Yasir Khurshid and Sibtain Raza while Atif Malik was the reserve umpire. The technical officer of the match was Shafqat Malik while the judges were Syed Ali Abbas and Muhammad Naeem.

The second match was played between Pakistan Juniors and Pakistan Navy which was won by Pakistan Juniors 2-1 after a thrilling contest. Goalkeepers Abdullah and Abuzar from Pakistan Juniors played a brilliant and lively game. Asad Aziz scored the only goal for Pakistan Navy while Murtaza Yaqub and Abu Zar scored for Pakistan Juniors. The match was supervised by umpires Atif Malik and Mazhar Wasim while Sibtain Raza was the reserve umpire. Syed Ali Abbas acted as the technical officer of the match while Shafqat Malik and Muhammad Naeem Chajjar acted as the technical officers.

The special guest of the first match was Saeed Khan, the gold medallist coach of the 1994 World Cup and former international hockey player while the special guest of the second match was former international hockey player Muhammad Yaqoob. Distinguished guests were introduced to the players and officials.

Chairman National Hockey Selection Committee Olympian Manzoor Jr., Secretary-General PHF Olympian Asif Bajwa, Staff Officer President PHF Zahoor Janjua were also present in the stadium to review the performance of the players. A large number of hockey fans and former Olympians and international players were also present at the National Hockey Stadium to cheer on the players. Among them,1984 Los Angeles Olympics Gold Medallist Olympian Tauqeer Dar. Pakistan Star Hockey Forward Olympian Rehan Butt, Former National Hockey Captain and Coach Muhammad Thaqleen, Former International Goalkeepers Qadeer Bashir DSP, Muhammad Shahid International, Babar Abdullah International, Syed Qamar Raza International, Hafiz Sajid International, Congress Members PHF Tahir Sharif Gujjar, Ikram Gujjar, Hafiz Arshad Zahid were also present.
