Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Division Hockey Championship: Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Bahawalpur divisions qualify for semi-finals

Lahore: February 5, 2021:  Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Division Hockey Championship: Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Bahawalpur divisions have qualified for the semi-finals. The semi-finals will be played on February 6 while the final will be played on February 7. Multan Division 2-1 and Sargodha Division defeated Gujranwala Division 4-1, Rawalpindi Division defeated DG Khan Division 3-0 and Faisalabad Division defeated Sahiwal Division 6-1.

Classification round competitions continued on the 11th day of the first Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Division Hockey Championship 2021 under the auspices of Sports Board Punjab. Teams from Faisalabad, Lahore, Sargodha and Bahawalpur divisions qualified for the semi-finals. The final will be played on February 7. Four matches were played at the National Hockey Stadium on Thursday.

In the first match, Bahawalpur Division defeated Multan Division 2-1, Ali Murtaza and Absar Bin Rauf from Bahawalpur Division and Kashif Sadiq from Multan Division. Scored one goal.

In the second match Sargodha Division defeated Gujranwala Division 4-1. Mohammad Talha scored two goals, Shaheer and Mohammad Arbab scored one goal each for Sargodha Division, Saqib Ali scored one goal for Gujranwala Division.

In the third match, Rawalpindi Division defeated DG Khan Division 3-0. Rawalpindi Division Muhammad Usman, Ahmed Mustafa and Samar Abbas scored one goal each in the fourth match. Faisalabad Division defeated Sahiwal Division 6-1. Shiroz Khan and Muhammad Usman scored 2, 2, Ibrahim and Faisalabad Division respectively. Muhammad Sajid scored one goal and Shakir Ali of Sahiwal scored one goal.

The special guests of these matches were the 1979 Junior World Cup Gold Medalist M Rashid, Director Sports Government College University Lahore Khadim Ali Khan. Distinguished guests were warmly welcomed on arrival at the stadium and were also introduced to the players and officials. Accompanying him on the occasion were Tournament Director and Secretary Punjab Hockey Association Lt. Col. Asif Naz Khokhar, Associate Secretary Punjab Hockey Association Rai Usman Akbar Kharal, Organizing Secretary and Director Sports, Sports Board Punjab Muhammad Hafeez Bhatti, Deputy Director Sports Punjab. Former Deputy Director Sports Punjab Shahid Nizami, Assistant Director Trainee Raees-ur-Rehman were also present.
