Pakistan WAPDA defeated National Bank in a thrilling match to win the Chief Minister’s Balochistan Gold Cup Hockey Tournament. Awards were distributed at the end of the proceedings.
Under the Youth Hockey Development Vision, Pakistan WAPDA won the Chief Minister’s Baluchistan Gold Cup Hockey Tournament organized by Pakistan Hockey Federation in collaboration with Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs Baluchistan and under the supervision of Baluchistan Hockey Association. In the final match, Pakistan Wapda defeated National Bank by 1-2 in a thrilling contest. In the 10th minute and 52nd minute played by Pakistan WAPDA, Rana Waheed and the promising player Salaman Razzaq scored field goals to give thier team the lead. Faisal Qadir scored the only goal for National Bank in the 49th minute through a penalty stroke. The match was sponsored by umpires Phil Siam and Abdul Manan while Sajjad Abbas was the reserve umpire. The judges included Syed Ghofran Shah, M. Ahsan, Muhammad Ali, Fahad Ali Khan, M. Idrees and Abdul Qayyum while Ali Abbas performed the duties of technical officer.
Earlier, the third position match was played between Pakistan Army and Punjab Colors which Pakistan Army won 2-4 and secured the third position in the event. From Pakistan Army, M. Emad, Ali Haider, Shahid Ali and M. Omar scored goals and played a key role in their team’s victory. Punjab Color team played brilliantly and scored two goals. Asher Tariq and Zaneer Khalid scored for Punjab. The match was supervised by umpires Mazhar and Abdul Wali while Aslam Khan Niazi acted as technical officer.
Baluchistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan was the chief guest at the final ceremony of the event. The distinguished guest of honor presented a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 1.5 million to the champion team of the main event Pakistan WAPDA, a cash award of Rs. 1 million to the National Bank team and a cash award of Rs. 500,000 to the Pakistan Army team. Colonel Asif Naz Khokhar presented a commemorative shield to Baluchistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan on behalf of Pakistan Hockey Federation while Haider Hussain attended the final ceremony on the special instructions of President Pakistan Hockey Federation Brigadier R Khalid Sajjad Khokhar to win the Buenos Aires World Cup. Baluchistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan also cut a special cake to commemorate the day.
On this occasion Olympian Rana Mujahid Ali Khan, Olympian Anjum Saeed, Olympian Tahir Zaman, Olympian Usman Sheikh, Olympian Shakeel Abbasi, Olympian Zeeshan Ashraf, Col. Asif Naz Khokhar, Secretary Punjab Hockey Association, Ramzan Jamali, Secretary Sindh Hockey Association Akbar Kharal Member Asian Hockey Federation Game Development Committee, Provincial Cabinet Ministers, Secretary 5th Sports Baluchistan Imran Gachki, DG Sports Baluchistan Dara Baloch were also present. Baluchistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan also announced the holding of Sur Hockey League and the continuation of this event every year.
