Twenty-Five Asian hockey-playing nations are poised to celebrate Olympic Day with various activities ranging from competitions to exhibitions and seminars.
Around the world, National Olympic Associations and their members hold special celebrations to mark the Olympic Day. This is a global celebration to remember the founding of the international Olympic Committee and the modern Olympic Movement by Pierre de Coubertain in 1894. The activities on Olympic Day are coordinated by the respective National Olympic Committees, bringing together people from all walks of life regardless of gender, age and disability to promote unity and harmony.
Olympic Day was celebrated by Saudi Hockey team with the support of NSO on 12th of July, 2016. It was the evening of 12th July when two teams were formed with the name of Athen’s and Rio. It was indeed a thrilling match in which Athen’s team headed by Mr. Imran defeated Rio team headed by Mr. Ringa, Both the team displayed a tremendous show of Field hockey which was later appreciated by the guests Rizwan, Zafar, Mazaz, Zafar (Jr) and the chief guest of the day Adulelah Al Janoubi and Nasir Ahmed.
After the match the trophy was handed over by the chief guest to the winning team and in his speech he mentioned and appreciated the work done by Ali Zaman the Organizing Secretary, Irfan, Rizwan, Akhtar, Imran (Sr), Yashpal and his team for putting up the great show and keeping alive the game of Field Hockey in Kingdom. He also in his speech stated the importance of game and physical fitness in our day to day life and also wished that in coming years more these kind of matches and tournament to be organized.
This year marks 122nd Anniversary of the Modern Olympic Games. Let’s cherish this moment on a grandeur scale with sporting and educational activities to observe Olympic Day.
