Back

After the first four matches of the competition yesterday, today we had one match for the women’s tournament and one match for the men’s tournament.

Malaysia 8 vs Cambodia 1 (WOMEN)

The first and only match in the women’s competition was between Malaysia (making their debut in the tournament today) and Cambodia who had been defeated by Thailand 5-1 yesterday.

The Malaysian team started with the right foot and after 9 minutes of play was able to convert the 1-0 to take the lead and show their attitude for their first game and in the quest to be at the top of these SEA Games.

The team coached by IBRAHIM Nasihin was able to score 7 more goals and the protagonists of all these goals were AZHAR Nur, MOHD Siti x2, RASHID Nuraini x2, ZULKIFLI Nuramirah,SUKRI Fatin and SYAFI Nurmaizatul.

DUCH Chansovatey scored a goal for the home side who were hoping to reverse yesterday’s performance.

The match ended with a comfortable win for the Malaysian team, who will play again on May 12 but this time against Singapore. The home team will also play on May 12 against Indonesia to try to get their first 3 points in the tournament.

Malaysia 6 vs Cambodia 0 (MEN)

On the men’s side, the same two teams faced each other, with the home team having had a match on the first day against Thailand, losing 2-1 to start the tournament with no points. Malaysia made its debut today against the host of the SEA Games.

The team led by RAHIM Amin started the tournament with full energy and scored the first goal after four minutes of play by HASSAN Najib. In the 19th minute, AZAHAR Amirul took advantage of a penalty stroke to make it 2-0 after an infringement.

The home team tried to close the spaces of their opponents but had no luck as Muhammad Danish Aiman, LIAU Alfarico, Shahmie Irfan Suhaimi, Adam Ashraf managed to score the remaining four goals to make the final score 6-0.

Cambodia had no luck and could not get the 3 points they were looking for. Surely in their next match against Indonesia they can find a better game and start scoring.

On the other hand, Malaysia started with a great debut and will be looking for another three points against Singapore tomorrow May 11.
