Singapore: The 4-day program, Technical Officials Course, concludes in Singapore. 14 participants from 8 countries received certifications from the AHF Raja Ashman Shah Hockey Academy, which strives to enhance the standards of, and the development of, hockey professionals in Asia. The course was conducted by Ms. Elisabeth Fuerst, Mr. Bjron, and Mr. Mathavan Devadas.

FIH Expert Ms. Elisabeth Fuerst said, “It is fantastic to see representation from different countries in this course. Technical officials play a crucial role in the sport and need to be one step ahead of everything that is going on during the event. The course deliberated the roles of TOs as well as the advancements that are happening in this field”.

AHF Development and Education Manager, Ghulam Ghous said, “Asian Hockey Federation is working hard for the development of all aspects of the sport in the region. This is the 29th program run by the AHF Development and Education for the calendar year. We have many more development programs planned for the remainder of the year, and we hope to see more and more individuals from all corners of the region to participate in these programs”.

About the AHF Development and Education Program 2018

The Asian Hockey Federation aims to assist the technical staff with the AHF Development and Education Program 2018. The development activities in training coaches, umpires, and technical officials are progressing faster than ever with more and more Asian federations taking productive participation in the courses.

The courses are designed to combine experienced people to present the methods to play, coach, officiate and manage the sport of hockey. The participants are exposed to the best strategies and protocols to manage teams and high-level tournaments. The courses are divided into 4 levels: Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Umpiring and Coaching along with High Performance. To move through the ranks of coaching, umpiring and technical officials a participant must successfully complete each level.

The aim of the AHF Education and Development Program 2018 is to provide a simplified education structure and resources for AHF Members Nations. All nations will have the opportunity to access the program pathway at an appropriate level.
