The 47th FIH Congress – Hockey Invites, Asian Personalities Awarded

The 47th FIH Congress, which is being held virtually for the very first time due to the global pandemic situation, commenced its Hockey Invites session successfully today on 21st May. Hockey Invites session focused on an updated, progress and reports of all the global hockey activities which further focused on Development & Education, Events, Communication, Tokyo Olympics Promotion and other important updates and also included a very important set of FIH Awards received by Asian National Associations and Exemplary Hockey Figures from Asia.

 

FIH awarded the following awards and honours to the Asian delegacy in the FIH. The Asian Hockey Family sends its congratulations to all the Awardees.

1) His Majesty Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah, the current King of Malaysia, was named as an Honorary Member of FIH for his tireless efforts to promote and develop hockey. His Majesty Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah, who is the current Royal Patron of the Asian Hockey Federation, has initiated the regeneration of hockey in Asia and vowed to recreate its status as an extravaganza and symbolic sport on the Asian and global platform.

2) Order of Merit: Yokoyama Hide – the Vice President of the Asian Hockey Federation and Chairman of the Development & Engagement Committee – was awarded the FIH Order of Merit for his countless services for the development and growth of hockey.

3) Diploma of Merit award went to Shin Jung Hee, Vice President of both the Asian Hockey Federation and Korean Hockey Association.

4) Diploma of Merit was awarded to Mathavan Devadas, Vice President Asian Hockey Federation and President of the Singapore Hockey Federation.

5) Hockey India was announced as the winners of the Etienne Glichitch Award in recognition of its remarkable contribution to the growth and development of Hockey.

6) Pablo Negre Award was awarded to the Uzbekistan Hockey Federation – acknowledging its tremendous efforts to improve playing conditions through new infrastructure and the implementation of youth development models as the country strives to become a major hockey hub of Central Asia.
