An international friendly tournament is taking place between two Asian Giants: Malaysia & Korea. The tournament is in preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Qualifiers. It will go on from the 22nd to the 28th of September 2019. The first match between the contenders resulted in a win for Malaysia with the score of 2-1 at the National Training Center in South Korean Jincheon.

Malaysia’s victory was achieved by two penalty corner strikes scored by penalty corner specialist Muhammad Razie Abd Rahim. Country coach Roelant Oltmans saw both teams deliver a good game with just the right amount of penalties to differentiate their coaching and opposition teams.

“The players managed to control the game well today and both teams displayed a good game structure but both teams did not create much scoring goals. The difference between us and the opposing team today is the penalty corner shot where we score two out of four penalty corner shots while the opponent with three advantage corner penalty hits sonly one. For the second meeting tomorrow I want the players to play the same game but make better decisions when attacking.” he said.

The series will span across 4 friendly matches, the first of which has been played and the second due tomorrow.
