6 October 2026: The Asian Hockey Federation is pleased to confirm the Asian teams progressing on the qualification pathway towards the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028, following the conclusion of the hockey competitions at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
India enjoyed a historic campaign, winning the gold medal in both the Men’s and Women’s competitions and, as Asian Games champions, securing direct qualification for the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 in both categories.
In the Men’s competition, silver medallists Malaysia, bronze medallists Pakistan, fourth-placed Korea, fifth-placed Japan, sixth-placed China and seventh-placed Bangladesh have qualified for the *FIH Hockey Olympic Qualification Tournaments.
In the Women’s competition, silver medallists China, bronze medallists Japan, fourth-placed Korea and fifth-placed Malaysia have qualified for the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualification Tournaments.

In total, the 2026 Asian Games have taken seven Asian men’s teams and five Asian women’s teams forward on the LA28 qualification pathway, with India securing direct Olympic qualification and the remaining teams continuing their journey through the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualification Tournaments.
