Chhattisgarh, 15th October 2023: The group stage of the 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Men & Women West Zone Championship 2023 concluded today in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. In the Sub Junior Women’s category, Hockey Madhya Pradesh secured the top position with 18 points, followed by Chhattisgarh Hockey at 15 points. Having secured the top 2 places in the points table, Hockey Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Hockey confirmed their place in the Final and will face off against one another on Monday at 1000 hrs.
Hockey Maharashtra and Hockey Rajasthan claimed the third and fourth positions with 12 and 7 points respectively, and will play the 3rd/4th place match at 0630 hrs.
In the Sub Junior Men’s category, Hockey Madhya Pradesh emerged as the table toppers with 18 points followed by Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey, who finished with 13 points. The two teams will now face one another in the Final on Monday at 1145 hrs. Hockey Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh Hockey stood at the third and fourth positions with 12 and 10 points respectively and will lock horns in the 3rd/4th place match at 0815 hrs.
Hockey Rajasthan, Hockey Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh Hockey won the Sub Junior Women’s category matches today at the 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Men & Women North West Championship 2023 in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, while Hockey Rajasthan and Hockey Madhya Pradesh won their respective games in the Sub Junior Men’s category.
The day started with Hockey Rajasthan beating Goans Hockey 10-0 in the Sub Junior Women’s category. The goalscorers for Hockey Rajasthan were Lamoria Salini (5’), Gonawat Riya (7’, 38), Kanwar Pushpa (14’, 20’, 39’), and Laxmi (24’, 31’, 50’, 60’).
Hockey Madhya Pradesh defeated Hockey Gujarat by 7-0 in the second match of the Sub Junior Women’s category. Sujata Jayant (9’, 34’) and Tanvi (32’) scored a brace each for Hockey Madhya Pradesh, while Sallu Pukhrambam (6’), Kanak Pal (36’, 52′), and Captain Radhika Dandotiya (47’) pitched in with a goal each.
Chhattisgarh Hockey registered a 9-1 victory over Hockey Maharashtra in the third match of the Sub Junior Women’s category. Sidar Madhu (4’, 7’, 43’), Dubee Rawat (12’, 25’), Aradhana Rajbhar (18’, 59’, 60’), and Captain Damini Khusro (30’) got on the scoresheet for Chhattisgarh Hockey, while Rawat Anvi (33’) scored the only goal for Hockey Maharashtra.
The fourth match of the day witnessed Hockey Rajasthan beat Hockey Gujrat by 4-3 in the Sub Junior Men’s category. The goalscorers for Hockey Rajasthan were Mayank (6’), Amit Singh (8’, 50’), and Rajjit Singh (60’). Meanwhile, Baraiya Ajay (18’, 25’) and Bhadreshvara Fenil (27’) scored for Hockey Gujrat.
Hockey Madhya Pradesh defeated Hockey Maharashtra 8-0 in the Sub Junior Men’s category in the fifth match. Morya Rishi (6’) opened the account for Hockey Madhya Pradesh, followed by goals from Aashir Aadil Khan (22’), Singh Deepak (25’), Karan Gautam (32’, 47’, 49’), Khan Javvad (38’), and Love (48’).
The last match of the day ended as a 3-3 draw between Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey and Chhattisgarh Hockey. Captain Anand Kumar Suryavanshi (7’, 44’) and Manas Yadav (14’) were the goalscorers for Chhattisgarh Hockey, while Ritesh Pandey (37’), Mithlesh Singh (47’), and Yadav Aakash (52’) got on the scoresheet for Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey.
