Independence Day Hockey Series takes place in Lahore, Pakistan.


Lahore: August 23, 21: Under the auspices of Pak Heroes Hockey Club Lahore and Muhammadan Hockey Club Lahore, Independence Day Hockey Series Muhammadan Juniors won the Juniors category, defeating Crown Hockey Club 1-3 in the final. In the seniors category, Pak Heroes defeated Dar Academy in a thrilling contest.

In connection with the Independence Day celebrations, Pak Heroes Hockey Club Lahore and Muhammadan Hockey Club Lahore organized the Azadi Hockey Series at Johar Town Hockey Stadium Lahore on August 14-22, which Muhammadan Juniors won. Teams from Dar Hockey Academy Lahore, Pak Heroes Hockey Club Lahore, Muhammadan Hockey Club Lahore and Crown Hockey Club Lahore participated in the senior and junior categories. Final Muhammadan in the Junior category in the event, the match was played between Juniors and Crown Hockey Club which was won by Muhammadan Jr. 1-3. Mujtaba Ali, Imran Irfan and Abdul Hadi scored for Muhammadan Juniors while Shahid scored the only goal for Crown Hockey Club. Seventy Two under 14 players participated in the event. Four Junior teams participated in the tournament, including Pak Heroes, Mohammadan Club, Young Star and Crown Club.

In the senior category, Pak Heroes Hockey Club defeated Dar Hockey Academy 1-2 in a thrilling match. Abdul Hanan International and Abu Bakar Tariq International scored goals for Pak Heroes while Adeel Latif International scored the only goal for Dar Academy. International players Azfar Yaqub, Abu Bakar Tariq, Abu Zarr, Waqar Younis, goalkeeper, Ali Aziz, Imran Azhar, Murtaza Yaqub, Salman Razzaq and Hanan Shahid participated in the Azadi Hockey Series. The hockey umpires Banesh Hayat and Sultan Ashraf officiated the match while the technical officials included Mian Obaid-ur-Rehman, Mudassir Nazir and Rameez Chishti.

Former hockey player Brigadier Tahir Saeed Butt was the special guest of Azadi Hockey Series along with CEO Crown Micro, Abid Zia. The organizing secretary of the event was Muhammad Yaqub International, Ghulam Ghous International. On arrival at the stadium, the dignitaries were warmly welcomed and introduced to the players and officials. Former Hockey Olympian Tahir Zaman, Former Hockey Player Amir Sheikh, M. Ayub Chaudhry, FIH Umpires Manager Rashid Butt , Abid Zia, Waqas Liaqat, Israr Jafari DSP, Tahir Pal and others were also present.

At the end of the ceremony, distinguished guests distributed cash awards & Hockey Sticks among the players.
