The President of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan, Gennady Golovkin, has emphasized a zero-tolerance approach to corruption and manipulation in sports.
Addressing a meeting of the Kazakhstan Anti-Corruption Agency last week, NOC President Golovkin, a former professional middleweight boxing champion, said he strongly supported measures to eliminate corruption in sport.
“My position is clear and remained constant throughout my entire sports career – zero tolerance to corruption and manipulation of sports competition,” Golovkin stated.
“In this respect, the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan supports any measures taken to eliminating these types of existence of manipulation in sports. The NOC intends to assist the Agency by every possible means in their fight against corruption in sports,” he added.
Golovkin also thanked the Agency for their efforts to pursue a corruption-free environment in sport, underlining the important role they play in the Olympic Movement.
