The Sports Medicine Committee of the Oman Olympic Committee organised a first aid and resuscitation course at the headquarters of the Oman Olympic Academy from May 20-22.

The aim of the three-day course was to raise health and sports awareness among participants from national sports federations and provide them with the knowledge and skill in dealing with emergency cases like heart attacks. The course included practical and theoretical exercises.

The course was held under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al-Ajmi, CEO of the Oman Medical Specialisation Board, with OOC President Sheikh Khalid Mohammed Al-Zubair and OOC Secretary General Taha bin Suleiman Al Kishry also in attendance.

As an initiative of the OOC Sports Medicine Committee, a number of cardiopulmonary resuscitation devices were distributed to national sports federations to enhance their capabilities in dealing with emergency situations and providing immediate first aid at training and match sites.

All participants expressed their gratitude at the great benefit stemming from this training course and hoped more advanced courses would be held in the future.
