Five different scorers and goals in each quarter were indicative of Argentina’s dominance from start to finish. Argentina booked their spot in the finals for the 14th-straight year. The two-time defending Pan American Games champions have won nine titles and have faced Canada in the final for the past 11-straight years.
While in the second semifinal, Canadian won against Chile 3-2 after Martin Rodriquez found a way to bring the game level twice. In a thrilling finish to the quarter Canada charged back into the Chile circle and forward Mark Pearson asked for a video referral for a foot foul. Canada won the referral and Tupper provided the heroics to bring Canada ahead once again, 3-2. They will play versus Argentina for the gold on Saturday, August 10th.
Meanwhile, Cuba defeated Peru and won 7-0. The victory moved Cuba into the 5/6th place game which will automatically improve their eighth-place finish in 2015, while in 2011 Cuba finished fourth. Peru, in their first-ever appearance at the Pan American Games, will play for 7/8th.
