The Asian Hockey Federation regrets to inform that Malaysia will not be participating in the Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2021.
During the Malaysian team’s pre-departure preparation camp, one player tested positive on 8 December 2021 in the course of routine daily testing. As per the Standard Operating Procedures of the Malaysian National Security Council, the entire team, including all players and staff, were subsequently classified as close contacts and therefore must quarantine for a minimum of 7 days, which effectively makes participation in the Hero Asian Champions Trophy Dhaka 2021 impossible.
The tournament will thus move ahead as a five-team competition.
