The Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) managed to confirm the 2022 Contribution Cup championship in the opening match of the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) this season.
The success came after THT performed in its own class to beat Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) 3-2 in the Contribution Cup match at the National Hockey Stadium, Bukit Jalil just now.
Not only won the trophy but THT also managed to bring home three valuable points and was on the right track to hunt for the MHL championship after this.
In the action, THT started fiercely by opening the scoring as early as the seventh minute through a penalty corner shot completed by Faizal Saari.
TNB had a good chance to equalize through Muhammad Shahril Saabah’s try but it was broken by THT goalkeeper Muhammad Hafizuddin Othman seven minutes later.
The efforts of the squad coached by Nor Saiful Zaini Nasiruddin to find the equalizer still found a dead end when all the counter -attacks were successfully broken by THT’s defensive wall.
