Over 24 candidates, including current professional umpires and upcoming umpiring professionals, are participating in the program.

Asian Champions and Rabobank Hockey Champions Trophy Silver Medalists, India, two time Asian Champions Trophy winners Pakistan, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, and Oman will go head to head in the 10-day event.

Singapore: AHF Raja Ashman Shah Academy in collaboration with Singapore Hockey Federation has organized a Technical Officials course. The course commenced from the 21st of June. FIH Experts, Elisabeth Furst, Bjorn Isberg, and Mathavan Devadas are conducting the 4-day course.

Dhaka: The Bangladesh National Coaching Course commenced yesterday. FIH Trainer and Coach, Mr. Seungjin Yoo is conducting the course while Mr. Ashiquezzaman and Mr. Moududur Rahman Shuvo are the course coordinators. A total of 23 participants have signed up for the course. Participants will get a chance to learn and interact with one of the leading FIH Trainers till the 6th of June!
Dhaka, Bangladesh: Under the umbrella of AHF Development and Education Program 2018, and in collaboration with Bangladesh Hockey Federation, AHF will conduct a National Coaching Course in Dhaka, between the 3rd – 7th of June 2018. FIH High-Performance Coach, Mr. Suengjin Yoo, has been appointed as the conductor for the national course.
Pyongyang, DPR Korea: 28 Participants get certified at the FIHA-AHF National Umpiring Course conducted by FIH Umpire Ms. Yuen Ki Yau.
Doha, Qatar: Qatar Hockey Federation (QHF), in collaboration with International Hockey Federation Academy (FIHA) and Asian Hockey Federation (AHF), organized a National Level 1 Coaching and Foundation Level Umpiring Course between the 23rd and the 26th of May 2018. 25 participants received certifications at the end of the course and joined the ranks of qualified Coaches and Umpires in the hockey family. Participants included professional coaches, multi-sports trainers, and school personal education teachers. The diverse pool of participants was to ensure the development of hockey at all levels in Qatar.
Donghae: Korea lift the trophy of the 2018 Donghae Women’s Asian Champions Trophy, beating India by 1 – 0 in the Final match of the tournament. It is the third title for Korea in four appearances at the event, making them the leader in the trophies table. China defeated Malaysia by 2 – 0 to win Bronze.
Donghae: Finalists, India and Korea, drew their round-robin tie 1 – 1, while China won their match against Japan 2 – 0, and will play Malaysia in the Bronze medal games tomorrow.
Donghae: India won three out of their three matches, beating Malaysia 3-2 in the latest encounter. Korea confirmed their spot as well by defeated China 3 – 1 in a thrilling match. The two teams will play the final on the 20th of May, however, they are yet to face each other in the round-robin tie, which is scheduled to be held on the 19th of May.
Donghae: India showed their class by beating Asia’s number 1 ranked team China by 3 – 1 in the second match of the day. Malaysia defeated Japan 3-2 in a closely contested match and picked up three points, their first of the tournament.
Donghae: India and Korea secure wins on the opening day of the tournament. India defeated Japan by 4 – 1 thanks to a hattrick from Navneet Kaur. In the second match, Korea defeated Malaysia by 3-1.

The Regional Technical Officials Course will be held in Singapore between the 21st-24th of June 2018, alongside FIH Hockey Series Open Men’s and Women’s Singapore. FIH Experts Mr. Bjorn Isberg, Ms. Elisabeth Fuerst, and Mathavan Devadas will conduct the course.
Bangkok: Most of the teams have arrived and the stage is set! 11 Men’s and 9 Women’s teams will go head to head in a thrilling, 5-day Hockey 5’s event. The tournament will start on the 25th of April. A total of 58 matches will be played over the course of the tournament, at the end of which, 2 top Men’s and Women’s teams will qualify for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires.
Bangkok: Ahead of the Asian Youth Olympic Games Qualifiers starting from the 25th of April, Thailand Hockey Association held a press conference. AHF Chief Executive Dato Tayyab Ikram, and President Thailand Hockey Association, Mr. Chaiyapak Siriwat lead the proceedings. Event officials, media representatives, and the host nations participating squad attended the press conference, which presented the details of the event, and what fans may look forward to.
The Hockey event will be held between the 5th and the 14th of April. Women’s teams will clash first with thrilling matches to look forward to, which include; India v Wales, Scotland v New Zealand, England v South Africa, and Australia v Canada. In the men’s category, Pakistan will face Wales, followed by a match between South Africa and Scotland. Top two team from each pool of each category will qualify for the Semi-finals which will be held on the 12th of April for Women and 13th of April for Men. The final for both categories will be Saturday, 14th of April.
Bahrain Hockey, under the official recognition of Asian Hockey Federation organized the Mini Olympics 2018 Inter School Hockey event. A total of 5 teams from three schools, namely; Sacred Hear School, Shaikha Hesaa Girls’ School, and St. Christopher School, participated in the event. St. Christopher’s Leafs won Gold, St Christopher’s Lighting won Silver, while Shaikha Hessa Purple won Bronze.
Bangladesh, top ranked team for the event at no. 30, Thailand (world no. 47), Oman and (world no. 32) and Sri Lanka (world no. 38) qualify for the semi-finals of the Men’s Asian Games Qualifiers at the end of the group stages matches. With that, they confirm a place for the main event, Asian Games 2018 Jakarta, which will commence from the 18th of August. With only one more spot to be filled, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Afghanistan and Kazakhstan, will compete to secure fifth place in the coming two days.
Australia emerged as Champions of the 2017 Azlan Shah Cup by defeating England 2-1 in the final. It was the 10th title for the Aussies who have made 15 finals since the inaugural tournament in 1983. England end the campaign with Silver and Argentina win Bronze.
120 participants from over 30 countries participated in 5 coaching and umpiring courses between 28th February and 8th March, 2018 in Ipoh Malaysia. Level 2 and Level 3 Coaching Courses, Level 2 Umpiring Course, Educators Course and Umpiring manager courses were covered in this years editions of the annual program which is held along side the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. Over 10, highly decorated and accomplished trainers conducted the course including, FIHA senior trainer and Japan’s Head Coach, Seigfried Aikman, FIHA senior educator Mike Joyce, and many more.
Malaysia pulled off a shock 2–1 win over reigning Olympic Champions Argentina. The win moved Malaysia to second spot in the standings with six points, the same with Argentina but the host team have a better goal advantage. The three points will now give Malaysia a chance to vie for a place in the final provided they defeat India and England in their last two matches.
Australia and Argentina continued their winning ways by registering wins over Malaysia and Ireland respectively as India and England picked up their first points in day two of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. A total of 14 goals, one short of the first day, were scored but the quality of matches was even better, as there was no great disparity amongst the teams. Play resumes on Tuesday as the European neighbors, England and Ireland open the day, followed by India taking on a strong Australian side, both of which play a very fast paced attacking game. Last but not the least, the hosts will take on Argentina and try to break the defenses and hope not to give away any shot corners.
Ipoh, Malaysia: The opening day of the 27th Edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah went as promised; End-to-end, thrilling, action packed 180 mins of action. What was interesting to note was that all matches saw five goals being scored. First up were Olympic champions Argentina who edged Asia Cup champions India 3-2 in a rain disrupted match and that was followed by an emphatic 4-1 by Australia over England. And when the crowds started filling up the stands in the final match between home side Malaysia and Ireland, which saw the Malaysians win comfortably by 4-1.
The 27th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup gets underway in Ipoh, Malaysia from March 3 to March 10. Six world class teams will battle for honors in the world’s longest running invitational tournament that was inaugurated in 1983. Ipoh, Malaysia: It was the first day of the Level 3 Coaching Course of the FIH-AHF Raja Ashman Shah Hockey Academy. 29 participants attended seminars and lectures by some of the worlds top-most coaches and educators.
Malaysia: 2018 FIHA-AHF Raja Ashman Shah Hockey Academy courses commenced today with a ‘Level 3 Coaching Course’, in Impiana Hotel, Ipoh. 27 participants are set to partake in the four day educational, as well as practical, development course. These participants include upcoming hockey professionals from Sri Lanka, Iran and Hong Kong, as well as, experienced coaches of teams with the likes of Pakistan.
Bhubaneswar, India: The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced the pools and match schedule for the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018, taking place in India between Wednesday 28 November and Sunday 16 December 2018.

The 27th Edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup will commence from the 3rd of March 2018, and will showcase the talent of some of the best athletes in the world. England, the reigning champions, will surely seek to retain the title and take their form into the prime events of 2018, including the Vitality Hockey World Cup 2018, Bhubaneswar. Australia, the leading title holders for the event, with 9 titles to their name, will look to extend the lead even further. The Olympic Champions, Argentina, are also set to participate in the tournament, who will look to show their dominance at the topmost level of the sport.
Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Muscat: Japan (FIH World Ranking 16) beat Pakistan (world number 13) 3-2 in the Final match of the tournament. Pakistan finished on top of their rivals in the round robin contest, but could not dominate their opponents in the finale.
Halfway through the event, world number 13, Pakistan, and world number 16, Japan, are tied at the top with equal points as well as an equal goal difference; the two teams drew two all in the head to head tie, and won three nil each against the hosts, Oman (world number 32). With three more matches and final still to be played (on the 20th of February), here is a recap of the tournament thus far.
Iran only lost one match (semi-final against Germany) out of a total of 8 played at the main event. Ranked currently at world number 7, Iran drew against Austria (world number 2), won against Russia (world number 4), and against Czech Republic (world number 6) at the event. Their campaign started with a 5-1 victory over Switzerland followed by a draw against Belgium (3-3) at the opening day of the World Cup 2018. On the second day, the Asian Champions drew against a strong Austrian side (Indoor Hockey World Cup 2018 Champions) followed by a win over South Africa (6-3). Iran played Russia in the last game of the group stages, winning by 4 goals to 3. Iran finished on level points along-side Austria atop Pool B in the Men’s Indoor Hockey World Cup 2018. Iran took on Czech Republic in the quarter finals which ended 2-2 at the buzzer. Iran won the match on shoot-out, owing to heroics from Sasan Hatami Nejad (Iran Goalkeeper) who only allowed one shoot to pass him by. The host nation, Germany, proved to be too strong and overcame Iran with a 6-2 victory.
Incredible Iran move through to the semi-finals at the Men’s Indoor Hockey World Cup 2018, after a remarkable unbeaten streak in the tournament thus far. The quarter-final against Czech Republic was an action packed, end to end, drama fest, in which both teams played their hearts out.
Prolific Iran have won two and drawn two at the Indoor Hockey World Cup 2018. In their first match of Day 2, Iran took an early two goal lead against Austria. The disciplined Iran Men’s side held Austria back, however, the opposition, ranked world no 2, showed their class by gaining a 3-2 lead over the Asian Champions. Iran, with high spirits kept attacking until Navid Taherirad equalized with splendid diving push into the bottom right corner at the end of a strong solo run. In their second match, against South Africa, Iran won with a comfortable 6-3 scoreline at the buzzer. With all to play for in Pool B as every team, apart from South Africa, can qualify for the quarter finals, Iran will take on a strong Russian team on the third day of the prime event.
The fifth edition of the tournament kicked off with a bang in Max-Schmeling-Halle, Am Falkpl., Berlin, Germany. 24 matches showcased an action packed match-day with a 192 goals in the opening day alone, for both, Men’s and Women’s categories.
The Asian Hockey Federation are very pleased to announce AHF International High Performance Goal Keeper Training & Coaching Course 14-16 March 2018 which will be held alongside the Men’s Asian Games 2018 Qualifier Muscat , Oman 8-17 March 2018.
The fifth edition of the Indoor Hockey World Cup will be hosted in Berlin, Germany between 7th – 11th February 2018. In the Men’s category, Kazakhstan will face Australia, Trinidad and Tobago, Poland, Germany and Czech Republic in Pool A. In Pool B, Iran will go head to head against Austria, Belgium, Russia, South Africa and Switzerland. In the Women’s category, Kazakhstan will take on Poland, ranked world number 5 and a strong Netherlands side, who are the reigning champions and ranked at number 3, in the first day of the event.
National Umpiring course was conducted between 23rd and 28th January 2018 under the AHF Development and Education Program 2018. The course conductor was former Pakistan Hockey International, Dilawar Bhatti. During the program, 25 umpires were engaged, including 15 men and 10 women. The course was a Level 1 Umpiring educational course, focused on educating the youth on prospects for Technical Officials not only in Asia, but also internationally.
The 5th edition of the biennial event will take place at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. Oman will host the event for the first time since the introduction of the tournament in 2011. The tournament will take place from October 18 to 28, 2018, and will be titled the ‘Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2018’.
Belgium became the gold medalist for both legs of the tournament. India, being unbeaten in the Round Robin of both legs lost both the finals at the hands of the world number 3. The Black sticks won Bronze in the first leg while Japan recovered and secured a podium position in the second leg of the event.
The second leg of the 2018 4 Nations Invitational Tournament will be held in Hamilton, New Zealand between 24 – 28 January. Olympic silver medalists Belgium, Asian Champions India, New Zealand and Japan, are the four participating nations.
Under the AHF Education & Development Program 2018 Cambodia National umpiring Course will be held from 21-25 January in Phnom Penh. Cambodia. Former International Mr. Dilawar Hussain Bhatti appointed as course conductor of Umpiring Course .
The top four teams in the final ranking of the Women’s Asian Games Qualifier Bangkok 2018 will qualify for participation in the women’s hockey competition at the 18th Asian Games, taking place in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from 18 August to 2 September 2018. However, Korea, China, India, Japan and Malaysia are qualified automatically based on the final ranking of the previous Asian Games’ women’s hockey competition.
Under the AHF Development and Education Program 2017 Tajikistan National Coaching Course was being held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. FIH Coach Educator Mr. Zahid Ali was appointed as Coaching Course Conductor. 18 participants took park in the course which delivers a positive message to the officials nearing the end of the year. Ms. Ekaterina Yousoova was appointed as the local coordinator. A closing ceremony was held in the NOC Head Quarter with attendance by Mr. Muhammadsho Abdullzodo, Secretary General NOC.
The venue and dates have been confirmed for the Women Asian Champions Trophy 2018 and the hosts will be Korea! The city of DongHae will be the center stage for the big event. Korea hosted the Women Asian Champions Trophy in 2010 in Busan when hosts won the tournament in the final against Japan.

Voting has now opened for this year’s International Hockey Federation (FIH) Hockey Stars Awards, celebrating the athletes, coaches and umpires who have lit up the world of hockey this year.
Fuelled by a passionate home crowd and fresh from their superb title success at the Asia Cup in October, India are also expected to be a serious threat in Pool B. The Asia Cup victory was the perfect start to the tenure of new Head Coach Sjoerd Marijne, who will be hoping his side can reproduce that excellent form in the Kalinga Stadium. Saudi Arabia celebrated Olympic day on July 7 at the Ettifaq sports club. They had many players from various clubs in Saudi and also players from their neighboring country Bahrain were present with their Junior and Senior teams to celebrate Olympic day. Many friendly matches between senior club players were played out and there were also matches for the school kids.
