Women Asia Cup 2017 Day 01 Review

India, Korea and Japan take comfortable victories in their opening matches at the Women’s Asia Cup 2017

Indian Women’s Hockey Team got off to a roaring start at the Women’s Asia Cup 2017 that began today in Kakamigahara, Japan. The team led by Rani dominated against Singapore with a comfortable 10-0 win. It was goals by Navneet Kaur (3’ and 41’), Rani (15’ and 18’), Lalremsiami (18’), Deep Grace Ekka (25’), Navjot Kaur (30’ and 50’), Gurjit Kaur (41’) and Sonika (45’) that ensured India notched up the winning points in their opening match in Pool A.
China took charge of the first day by defeating Malaysia by 5 goals.  The goals came in by  OTHMAN Siti (18`), MANSUR Nurul (45`, 48`), ONN Hanis (55`). The thriller saw Malaysia comeback with 4 goals YE Jinping (3`) ZHONG Jiaqi (7`) , CHEN Yi (26`), YUAN Meng (57), LIANG Meiyu (60`). A close match that also saw CHEN Yang and CHEN Yi getting green cards during the match. China ensured the victory to seal a good first day at the tournament.
Korea showed dominance throughout the match by defeating Thailand by 8 goals. The goals came in by HONG Ji Seon (4`), PARK Seunga (9`, 24`, 36`),  AN Hyoju (16`), JANG Heesun (12`, 50`), PARK Mi Hyun (55`).
The Japan also began their first day with a clean sheet for the goalie with a 7-0 win over Kazakhstan. The goals started early with NISHINAGA Yui (14`), KAWAMURA Motomi (22`, 36`), KARINO Mami (30`), HIRAHARA Ayane (42`), FUJIBAYASHI Chiko (36`, 54`).
